As a refugee from the rock-band-mania of the late 1960s, Jef began a career as an acoustic performer / songwriter in the early 70s, delighting audiences with song and commentary beginning in the Detroit area and eventually ranging from Chicago to Boston and from Saratoga Springs, NY to Cincinnati. He performed at many Detroit area venues including college concerts in Southeastern Michigan and, most notably, The Raven Gallery, which Jef also managed from 1977-79.
Outside of Michigan, Jef made performance appearances in Boston (Sword and the Stone), Saratoga Springs (Cafe Lena) and other venues in Cincinnati and the North East quarter of the US, publishing two albums along the way. It’s All Rootbeer (1974) and For Sam (1977). Jef also produced mid-70s albums for Chuck Mitchell (Combinations) and Michael Smith (Zen).
