ELP drummer Carl Palmer is to be named Prog God for nearly 50 years of service to progressive rock, at the Progressive Music Awards 2017, in association with Orange Amplification, at a ceremony in London on September 14.
“This is a fantastic award to have, and I feel very honoured,” Palmer says, “but I also feel a little bit sad that Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, who both died last year, aren’t here as well. They played such a big part in the progressive movement, and in helping me to get where I am, so I’m accepting it in honour of them as well.”
Meanwhile, the drummer has lined up some shows with his band ELP Legacy.
